As fall turns to winter, polar bears gather along the shores of Hudson's Bay waiting for the ice to form. This allows them to head out into the bay to hunt seals, their favourite and most important food. For a polar bear, the summer is the lean time and the winter a time of plenty. This bear, photographed in October of 2024, was repeatedly bouncing up and down on the newly formed ice to test its thickness.
