About The Photographer

Hi. I’m Robin Winsor. I've always been fascinated with light. 

I'm often asked if my images are photographs or paintings.  They're really a bit of both.  I grew up in the age of film photography, spending hours in the darkroom with each image getting just the right mix of chemistry and timing to get the result I wanted onto paper.  Today I spend that time in my digital darkroom, stirring pixels together with my graphics tablet and stylus until my images match what I both saw and felt in the field.  It's still all about light...

So what light do I have to work with? I'm incredibly fortunate to live in western Canada close to the Rocky Mountains.  Here the aurora regularly dances across the sky, eagles and ospreys hunt over the lake beside my house and I'm only a few minutes drive from some of the best horse country around.  I hope my photography will instill in you the same sense of wonder I still feel with every trip to the mountains, with every breath of cold winter air and with every howl of coyotes in the night.
