The mountains are beautiful but they can also seem daunting. A sight like this fills me with awe for nature and admiration for the peoples of Canada's First Nations who learned to live among these peaks long before roads and railways made them passable for newcomers like Arthur Wheeler. Wheeler named it Quadra Mountain in 1910 for its distinctive four peaks which straddle the border of Alberta and British Columbia.
